Six people were arrested in the Algarve on Tuesday for the crime of drug trafficking, in a police operation that led to the seizure of enough heroin for 9075 individual doses and enough cocaine for 117 doses, the GNR reported.

The authorities carried out six warrants to search houses in Tunis, Almancil, Loulé and São Brás de Alportel, and two warrants to search vehicles.

The action culminated in the arrest of four men and two women, aged between 25 and 58, all indicted for the crime of drug trafficking.

According to the GNR, the detainees sold “a narcotic product directly to consumers, traveling to several municipalities in the Algarve region, namely São Brás de Alportel, Faro, Loulé, Albufeira and Silves».

The head of the group and "the main target of the investigation, changed residence frequently", adds that security force in a statement.

During the operation, in addition to the drug, 31 packages of cut product, 10,4 grams of indeterminate product, 39 bottles of methadone, seeds of c and several plastic cutouts for storing narcotics.

Two precision scales, an LCD television, 20 mobile phones, 12 bladed weapons, 58 ammunition of various calibers, a grenade storage box, 309 euros, and the two vehicles targeted by the search were also seized.

During the operation, a 43-year-old Portuguese citizen was also constituted as a defendant and eleven consumers who had purchased drugs directly from the detainees were questioned.

The operation had the collaboration of military personnel from the Intervention Detachment of Faro, and two teams with drug detection dogs were also used.

The six detainees, some of whom have a criminal record, were heard this afternoon in the Court of Faro.
