The academic year of the University of Free Time (UTL), of the Castro Marim City Council, has already started and wants to put everyone “on the line”. The “Põe em Forma” program is one of the highlighted activities in 2013/14, but there is much more to choose from.
Anyone who wants to keep fit can join the autarchy's program, aimed at citizens between 17 and 45 years of age and which consists of maintenance gymnastics classes, to exercise all muscle groups and, simultaneously, contribute to strengthening and prevention loss of bone mass.
There are classes from Monday to Friday, at the Municipal Pavilion, at 18 pm and also at the primary schools of Altura and Junqueira, at 18 pm and 16 pm, respectively.
For those who prefer more artistic activities, decorative arts, patchwork, arraiolos tapestry and hand embroidery are other activities and courses that can be attended at UTL. And, of course, we must not forget the medieval atelier, «a very cherished activity in Castro Marim, which, throughout the school year, will make new medieval costumes».
The 18 socio-educational courses, in which more than 150 students participate, are taught by accredited teachers in various areas of knowledge, operating in Altura, São Bartolomeu do Sul, Rio Seco, Castro Marim, Monte Francisco, Junqueira, Azinhal, Furnazinhas and High Mora.

«The Castro Marim City Council hopes that UTL's new academic year will contribute to the realization of more cultural, recreational and convivial activities, disseminating history, science, traditions and the arts, intellectually and culturally valuing its graduates and , at the same time, developing interpersonal and social relations between different generations», summarized the municipality.
