The PS/Algarve says it is "with concern" following the controversy within the Integrated Masters in Medicine at the University of Algarve (UAlg) and guaranteed that "it will do everything to help find a solution that respects the autonomy and continuity of the MIM of the University of the Algarve, opposing all those who intend to destroy it».
«The Integrated Masters in Medicine (MIM) was an achievement of all the Algarve, the result of the work of all political and social forces in the Algarve around its University, it is a modern, innovative course that deserved national and international approval, which it qualifies the region and its health services and which is a heritage of the community and of all the people of the Algarve», considered the president of the Algarve Socialist Federation António Eusébio, in a press release.
The Management and Executive Group of MIM, who has already resigned, as well as the students of the UAlg Medicine course publicly manifested themselves against the terms of a protocol that will be signed between the university and the Centro Hospitalar do Algarve, considering that it interferes with the pedagogical autonomy of those responsible for the course.
This situation, which the rector of UAlg João Guerreiro says he does not understand, since the protocol to be signed is "exactly the same" that was already in force before, has generated positions in favor of the outgoing direction, but also against the attitude they took.
