The mayor of Alcoutim considers that the lack of conditions at the Vila Real de Santo António Secondary School, due to the delay in completing the Parque Escolar works, is an “unsustainable situation”.
"About 50 young people in the municipality of Alcoutim leave, every day at 6:00 am, to a school that does not guarantee them the dignified and safe conditions to dedicate themselves to school life", stresses the socialist mayor Osvaldo Gonçalves.
“We know that the school has about 900 students and that the cafeteria facilities only have a capacity for 30 students at a time,” adds the Alcoutim mayor.
Last Wednesday (23rd), the Municipality of Alcoutim supported the demonstration, organized by the Association of Parents and Guardians of Vila Real de Santo António Secondary School, by the end of the use of containers as a classroom.
