About 200 students and some parents from Vila Real de Santo António Secondary School are this morning in protest outside this school, demanding the end of the works that started four years ago and have been stopped for 18 months.

Parents and students contest the continuation of classes in containers, which they accuse of not having “minimum conditions”, since it even rains inside.

"Students from the Secondary School of VRSA, in another school year, are once again not on an equal footing with students from other schools in the country who have already completed their requalification work and are not continuing in this shipyard situation," he told the Sul Informação the mother of one of the affected students.

“We have had the works stopped for years, with summer and winter students having classes in unfit containers, a situation that we were told was temporary but that has been going on for four years,” added the same mother.

At issue are the works at Parque Escolar, which should have been completed a year and a half ago, but which ended up stopping, leaving the school to operate in “provisional” containers.

One of the parents heard by Antena1 said that part of the works is even finished, but it has not yet been delivered for reasons unknown to students and guardians.

Meanwhile, the director of the Vila Real de Santo António Secondary School told Antena1 that, after contacting the regional Education delegation in the Algarve, she was told that the works would be completed “by December”.
