Combating social exclusion was the main objective of the initiative “Small gestures of social inclusion/integration”, which took place on Monday and was dedicated to the most needy population in the municipality.

On that day, around 40 citizens of Olhão had the opportunity to visit the Museum of Olhão and the Ecoteca of Chalet João Lúcio, as well as to walk in the Ria Formosa at Caique «Bom Sucesso».

«Because teamwork can bear fruit, a more prosperous and secure future for all, a technical team made up of technicians from the Municipality, Social Security and the Portuguese Red Cross, joined forces and symbolically provided a different day, opening new horizons through of culture”, illustrated the Chamber of Olhão.

Visitors were able to learn about the origin of the Maritime Commitment, its mission as a way of helping the population of Olho d of the end of the XNUMXth century, beginning of the XNUMXth century, «the social and religious force that the Commitments of the time had, facilitating medicines and precious information for exercise their activity with dignity, whether in terms of medication or in terms of rights».

The beneficiaries, who were divided into two groups, then went to Casa João Lúcio, which they visited, "some for the first time" and where they got to know "a little more about this famous poet, lawyer, as well as the Society of the XNUMXth Century, their costumes and professions».

«The tour ended at Ria Formosa, with a tour at Caique Bom Sucesso. Ideas and dreams were projected. New horizons were opened through culture. Olhão was not indifferent to the initiative, and hopes to repeat it in the future», concluded the municipality.
