For five weeks, every Thursday, some of the most memorable spaces in the history of Portimão will serve as a theme for conversation nights. These are the Rota Talks – Spaces and Memories, which begin this Thursday, the 12th, at 22 pm, at Tasca Almareado.

There will be five conversations in as many spaces, to which everyone is invited, and which will take place accompanied by a snack, or were not part of the parallel program of Snack Route.

The theme of the first gathering will be “The Lotta: Under the sign of the fish”, and the conversation will feature the participation of historian Valdemar Coutinho and anthropologist Patrícia Ramos, in addition to other guests.
Initially Central Elétrica, later functioning as an auction and, nowadays, a stage for sporadic cultural events, this is a space that has had several lives. In the first edition of Rota Talks, the objective is to remember the lives that made the space, marked by the sea and the fishing activity that, for centuries, constituted one of the main pillars of the economy of Portimão.

On the 3rd of October, at Porta Velha, there will be a conversation about “Convento de S. Francisco: Property of Public Interest?”, closing this cycle of gatherings around the city and well accompanied by snacks on the 10th of October, at the Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, speaking precisely about this figure: «MTG: a man of the city».

Through the Rota Talks, Portimão's past will be remembered and the way they traced the identity of the city and the people of Portimão and a perspective on what their future will be and how they can continue to be prominent points in the daily lives and lives of citizens.
