Nine citizens detained for driving under the influence of alcohol, another two for not having a license and a man detained for disobedience was the result of a "large-scale inspection operation within the scope of the prevention of violent and serious crime", which the Team Joint Criminal Prevention of the Algarve held at dawn on Saturday.

The Team, which brings together elements from the PSP, GNR, Foreigners and Borders Service, SIS, PJ and Maritime Police, also drew up 51 administrative offenses, with the operation being carried out in the municipalities of Faro and Olhão.

The main objective of Saturday's dawn action was "the prevention, combat and repression of all forms of serious crime likely to affect the physical, moral, property and the feeling of insecurity of populations in the Algarve.", as revealed by the PSP, in a statement.

In all, 97 elements of the different police forces that make up the Mixed Team participated.
