The book «Europe in the stories» and the exhibition of images that illustrate it «Unidos na Diversidade», the most recent project of the Center Europe Direct in the Algarve, will be presented on September 24, at 10 am in the auditorium of the Library of the capital Algarve. Admission is free.
The work and the exhibition that accompany it, which have the support of the Chamber of Faro, arise as a result of the project «Europa nas estórias», launched by the structure based in the Regional Coordination and Development Commission of the Algarve (CCDRA) in 2011.
«The publication is a book of stories and, at the same time, a proposal for activities to be developed, at home or in a school environment, by the educators. Interested classes may also book at the Municipal Library of Faro an activity to explore the Exhibition, based on an information sheet available with each of the materials and photographs of the sessions held over the two years of the project», revealed the CCDRA, in a press release.
This project was aimed at pre-school and basic education students in the Algarve and made known a little about the history and culture of each of the member countries of the European Union.
«The 30 sessions held involved around 800 children and 50 teachers/educators from the region. In each session of this "European story time", the story was narrated from the perspective of a famous or imagined character, based on mythology or traditional tales, followed by a "hands on" workshop where students recounted the story or they reproduced a tradition, discovered curiosities and some words of the official language of the country in question», described the CCDRA.
It was from here that this book came about «where the real protagonists are the children who participated in it and which CCDR Algarve and the Center Europe Direct do Algarve are now presenting».
