The Loulé citizens' group “In Defense of Public Schools” once again demonstrates at the door of School No. 4 of the Padre João Cabanita School Grouping next Tuesday, September 24, at 8:30 am to “demand that pedagogy is superimposed to the school bureaucracy”.

“We do not accept that 3rd year students will attend 4th year classes when there is currently a 3rd year class with 12 students. This is an issue that the most elementary common sense would immediately resolve. One of the parents also decided to go on hunger strike at the school's door until the situation was resolved», announced the movement.

This new protest, after those that marked the first days of classes, last Friday and earlier this week, is justified by the lack of resolution of the "pedagogical absurdity produced by mixed classes", according to a note sent to the press by the group of citizens.

The criticism goes not only to the leaders of the Loulé group, but also to the Regional Directorate of Education and the Ministry of Education, who are accused of ignoring "the most elementary notions of public service".

Due to this situation “there are children who have not started classes yet (three days ago) because their parents consider it unacceptable to place them in classes that do not meet the minimum pedagogical conditions”. The group stresses the "disorder that this disrespect for children, parents and public education is causing in families and their children."

The Loulé citizens' group “In Defense of Public Schools” says that there have even been parents who “have (literally) fled from this situation of educational degradation by transferring their children to other school groups (Quarteira and Paderne)”.
