The GNR arrested a man and seized cannabis, in plant and ready to use, opium poppies, amphetamines and cocaine, in an operation carried out yesterday, Thursday, in Barão de São João, in the municipality of Lagos.

"After the investigation carried out, it was possible to apprehend 150 cannabis plants in different stages of maturation in the vicinity of the residence, as well as within the surrounding vegetation, in addition to ready-to-use cannabis sufficient for 1200 individual doses", revealed the Territorial Command in Faro of the GNR in a statement.

Once inside the residence, the military found and seized '20 grams of cannabis seeds, 9 opiate poppy plants, 152 grams of dried opiate poppy bulbs for seed extraction, 7,5 grams of amphetamines, enough cocaine for four individual doses and 50,6 grams of cutting substance'.

"Three precision scales, an electric irrigation pump and 3 euros were also seized, in addition to numerous hermetic bags for storing the narcotic with a view to alleged trafficking," added the police force.

The operation, carried out by the military of the Criminal Investigation Nucleus of the Territorial Detachment of the National Republican Guard of Portimão, targeted the owner of the house where the drug was discovered, who was already indicted for the crime of drug trafficking.

"The detainee, with a criminal record for crimes of theft and without known professional activity, will be present today, Friday, at the Judicial Court of the District of Lagos, to apply the coercive measures found to be convenient," added the GNR
