The Creative Residence, resulting from the Design&Ofícios project, marks a new meeting between creatives, designers and artisans, between the 7th and 10th of June, in an old olive oil mill in São Brás de Alportel.

This 3rd edition of the Design&Ofícios Project, organized in partnership by the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel and the Southern Designers Association, brings together local artisans and young creators from the Algarve region, in a creative, intergenerational and multidisciplinary experience.

“Nine proposals are planned for this edition, ranging from furniture, fashion, art and games, having in common the use of the most representative handcraft techniques in the region, such as carpentry, trapology, ceramics or construction. [palm or esparto] as well as the use, whenever possible, of local and natural materials such as cork, wood, palm leaves, esparto or tablet”, stresses the organization.

The organization intends with this “laboratory” not only to create experimental, innovative, creative and original design and craft projects, but essentially to provide the exchange of knowledge and knowledge between participants, in an environment of great conviviality and informality.

The residence will be open to the public throughout the weekend, allowing visitors to also see the development of the works and who knows, learn a little more about the traditional arts of the Algarve mountains.

Combining innovation with tradition, the Design & Crafts 3 project will have 15 participants, including artisans and designers, willing to develop ideas, socialize and explore, through design and crafts, the most representative raw materials in the region.

The result will then be presented at Feira da Serra, in São Brás de Alportel, on the 26th, 27th and 28th of July.

This project Its institutional partners are the Algarve Culture Department and the Algarve Regional Department of the Portuguese Sports and Youth Institute, it also has the sponsorship of the Nova Cortiça and Braúlio Farias factories and the support of the Museu do Trajo, the bar/ gallery Zem Arte, ETIC Algarve, Museu de Portimão, Museu Municipal de Faro, FM Street, Sul Informação and the Local Vision TV.
