The PCP denounced this week the "unavailability of some medicines, such as insulin, due to stockouts" in the health extensions of Salir and Tôr, in the municipality of Loulé and has already questioned the Government about what measures it intends to take to face the situation.

“In these situations, which occur relatively frequently, users of the health extensions in Salir and Tôr have to be referred to the Loulé Health Centre. It is important, therefore, to determine whether the lack of medicines is due to guidance from the guardianship in order not to acquire these drugs, thus initiating the process of rationing of medicines that is contemplated in the opinion of the National Council of Ethics for the Life Sciences» , said the PCP.

The Communist Parliamentary Group wants to know what “measures will be taken to guarantee that the necessary medicines for an adequate provision of health care will be available in the health extensions of Salir and Tôr, as well as the Government's willingness to increase the number of professionals in these extensions'.

In addition to the lack of medication, the PCP drew attention to the fact that in the Tôr health extension there is "only one nurse two days a week", which forces users to travel to the Loulé Health Center on the remaining days .

“The doctor is in the health extension only two days a week, which, taking into account the number of users served by this health extension (about 700), reduces the possibility of making home visits or providing support to the school. Users have to wait about 2 months for a consultation,” added the communists.

“The health extension in Salir has only one nurse to ensure all hours of operation (weekdays from 8 am to 16 pm). This circumstance prevents travel to homes and compromises the proper functioning of the health extension when, for some reason (illness or otherwise), the nurse cannot fulfill her working hours», also stressed the Parliamentary Group of the PCP.
