The new store of the sports goods brand Decathlon opens tomorrow, Saturday, in Largo do Dique, on the Portimão riverside, about nine months after the previous store was destroyed by the fire at the Retail Parque de Portimão.

The new space is located on the ground floor of the Casa do Rio Building (built on the site of the old cinema) and inaugurates a new store concept: the Decathlon Spot. Is that this new space, despite presenting a varied range of items, has only 500 square meters.

To what Sul Informação he found out, the team of about a dozen people who will manage the store comes from the previous retail space, destroyed by fire on 23 September last year.

Decathlon Spot opens tomorrow at 10 am. Its opening hours will be from 10:00 am to 22:00 pm every day. Despite being located in the center of Portimão, next to the riverside area, there is easy parking (paid and free) nearby.

Continente will open in Cabeço do Mocho

Continente is also preparing to open, this summer, a new store, this time in the former premises of the E.Leclerc hypermarket, in the Cabeço do Mocho/Cruz da Parteira area. The work to adapt the space to the new brand is advancing at a great pace.

This new Sonae Sierra Group hypermarket is intended to replace the store that was also destroyed by the September fire at Retail Parque de Portimão.

Of the stores and other services installed in this former retail park, only the Feu Vert workshop has been open for a few months now, which has moved to a space next to the so-called Rotunda do Continente.

In September, at 2:36 am on the 23rd, a violent fire destroyed seven retail park stores in Portimão – Decathlon, De Borla, Aki, Staples, Continente, Moviflor and Rádio Popular.

Only the Feu Vert workshop, located at the west end of Retail Park, and the restaurant area, which was in a separate building, escaped the flames.

To this day, the park remains closed and only the old store on Continente has been completely dismantled, removing the debris twisted by fire. The future of the space remains uncertain, but sources linked to the process guaranteed the Sul Informação which will almost certainly not reopen as Retail Park.
