The Rota dos Moinhos, a pedestrian route of 9,5 kilometers, with a moderate/easy degree of difficulty, will be inaugurated on Sunday, June 23, in Monchique.

This route takes place in the urban area of ​​Vila and in the northern part of the Serra de Monchique, passing through unique landscapes, such as Moinho de Vento, a recovered water mill, Moinho do Fewchinho, owned by the Parish Council, in Barranco dos Pisões, through chestnut woods, some of them monumental trees and other characteristic landscapes of the Serra de Monchique.

The route is already approved by the competent authorities, respecting international standards and is currently being “painted”.

It will be part of the “Veredas de Monchique” project, which will provide hundreds of kilometers of marked routes throughout the county, making Monchique the municipality with the most marked routes in the South of Portugal for those who are adept at hiking and nature sports, such as mountain biking. Parents.

At this moment, in addition to being crossed by Via Algarviana (GR), Monchique already offers the Exit Chimney Route, the Monumental Trees Route, the Geology Route, as well as the trails from the Caminho das Caldas to Picota and Fóia.
