Air conditioners, dishwashers, refrigerators, as well as aluminum objects, taps, locks and door handles, stolen from several houses in a residential area of Albufeira, were recovered on Sunday by the GNR of this city, in an operation that also took the arrest of one man and the identification of another, presumably perpetrators of the robberies.

It all started with the arrest, on Sunday afternoon, by soldiers from the Territorial Sub-Detachment of the Republican National Guard of Albufeira, of a 23-year-old Portuguese youth residing in Faro, who was indicted for the crime of home theft.

The GNR explains that, "during a patrol action in a residential area, the alert for a possible theft in a condominium allowed, after rapid military intervention, to intercept the individual in flagrante delicto" when he was preparing to flee after noticing the arrival of the police force.

The GNR also found that, in the vicinity, "a considerable number of other homes" had "signs that they had also been the target of theft".

Following the investigations, the vehicle used by the thief to travel to the location and which would serve to transport the stolen goods was seized.

The authorities also discovered that there was another man, also a Portuguese citizen and resident in Faro, 26, also involved in the robberies.

The men were preparing to carry the material that had already been taken from the residences, having with them a ladder and a bag of tools, used for the robberies.

The detained individual has a criminal record for the same type of offense, having been present at the Court of Albufeira for the application of coercive measures deemed convenient.
