The Left Block will close the cycle «Jornadas sobre Olhão», with a session dedicated to the theme «Education, Health and Social Inclusion», whose panel will be entirely female. The debate is scheduled for this Friday, at 21:15 pm, in the auditorium at Praça de Agadir, in Olhão.

The session will have as guests the educational psychologist / TEIP project technician Eduarda Arroio, the social worker / drug addicts social reintegration technician Cláudia Moura, the sociologist / associative movements for social inclusion and fight against poverty Helena Azevedo and the elected BE member by the Algarve Cecília Honório.

The Blocist parliamentarian will take the opportunity to present the BE proposal "to respond to the social consequences of the troika memorandum." "The Social Emergency Program (PES) is an initiative that responds to the contours of the humanitarian crisis that is spreading to broad social sectors as a result of the current economic situation", framed BE/Olhão, in a press release.

“It is a set of immediate measures for a common action against the effects of austerity – hunger, misery and the abandonment of the impoverished strata of the population”, he continued.

Some of the proposed measures are the “updating of the minimum wage to 533 euros, the repeal of the new rent law, the ban on cutting off water and energy for families in proven poverty, the reinforcement of food support in schools and the creation of a Social Basket, with 10 essential products with zero percent VAT: infant milk, bread, rice, pasta, olive oil, meat, fish, eggs, essential fruit, essential vegetables».
