The Portuguese singer Susana Travassos and the Brazilian guitarist-composer Chico Saraiva present «Tejo-Tietê», in concerts scheduled for May 9th, at 22 pm, at Centro Cultural António Aleixo, in Vila Real de Santo António, and on May 00th, at 10:21 pm, at the Municipal Auditorium of Olhão.

It is the active voice of composers and poets, today and recently, from Portugal and Brazil, which is heard in «Tejo-Tietê» through the voice of Susana Travassos and through the guitar of Chico Saraiva, where they blend with extreme care Villa Lobos, João Gilberto and Fado.

It takes nothing more than voice and guitar to transport, in smooth textures, the entire complex web of two distinct singing worlds, united more in the attraction of difference than in the similarity of personalities. Sadness, that so fearsome and adored place of lack and yearning, sets the tone for the work and guides the confluence of these two rivers so distant.

Thus, we hear what can be translated as Portuguese Brazilian Music, in the case of this meeting of composer and guitarist Chico Saraiva, from Rio de Janeiro based in São Paulo, with Portuguese singer Susana Travassos.

She released her first solo album in honor of Elis Regina (1945-1982), in 2008, now sings unpublished songs by Saraiva with lyrics by Tiago Torres da Silva (poet with deep experience in Brazilian song), Villa-Lobos (Sentimental Melody) and Elomar (Cavaleiro de São Joaquim), in addition to others by the guitarist with different partners, including the singer herself.

From the Portuguese repertoire stand out I know of a river (Pedro Homem de Mello/Alain Oulman), Green Years (Carlos Paredes) and the Tagus (José Peixoto/Pedro Ayres Magalhães) released by the Madredeus group. Susana's vocal timbre, by the way, is slightly reminiscent of Teresa Salgueiro, the group's former singer.

With musical production by Paulo Bellinati, «Tejo-Tietê» mixes sound sources from there with those from here, united by the ancestral melancholy, by the precise navigation through the legacy of fado and bossa nova, between the erudite and the popular. These are differences that mirror and flow into a sea of unique beauty.
