Estrada das Açoteias, one of the busiest roads in the parish of Olhos de Água, was the target of a requalification project, which consisted of repaving the floor and painting horizontal signs and crosswalks.
The intervention, budgeted at around 60 thousand euros, provided the surrounding areas (Roja-Pé, Miraparque, Açoteias and Falésia) with better access conditions to receive the thousands of tourists who visit them during the bathing season, attracted by the quality of the beaches, hotels and restaurants.
In addition to providing better road traffic conditions, the project also increased pedestrian safety, with the repainting of existing crossings.
“This repaving work is part of a wide range of interventions that we have been developing in the municipality and which, despite the economic difficulties we are going through, we intend to extend to other parishes, in situations that have already been identified”, explains councilor Carlos Quintino, responsible for the area of Road Accessibility.
The project had an execution period of 10 days and was in charge of the public works contractor MAJA Construções.
