Three Algarve athletes were crowned national champions in the National Aquathlon Championship, held in Setúbal on May 5th. They are Ricardo Correia (age group 30-34), from Clube Xelb Silves, Leonardo Lopes (45-49), from Louletano, and António Raposo (55-59), from O2 – Oxigénio Portimão.

Ana Sanches (40-44), from O2 – Portimão, and José Varela (55-59), from Louletano, also became national runners-up.

In Setúbal, this Aquathlon championship included 750 meters of swimming and 5000 meters of running.

The Algarve, which has excellent conditions to practice this sport, now has six teams to practice it: O2 – Portimão, Clube Xelb Silves, Louletano, Leões de Olhão, Leões do Sul – Castro Marim and São Brás.
