Vila Real de Santo António will have a new training center of the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP) in operation before the end of the year. The investment of around 350 thousand euros by the IEFP will allow new conditions for professional training to be gained and will promote the rehabilitation of an old commercial space, which is currently unused.

The signing of the protocol between the IEFP, which provides the money, and the municipal company Vilarealense SGU, which will carry out the remodeling works of the former Lidl of Urbanização das Amendoeiras, a building provided by the municipality, took place this Tuesday, in Vila Nova de Cacela, at the headquarters of the Frusoal company. The work should start "next month" and will be completed "by the end of this year".

According to IEFP Vice President Félix Esménio, the new premises of the VRSA training center will have “a workshop, a practical work room, two training rooms and two multimedia and computer rooms and a room for coordinators and trainers”.

"We are going to have training here for young people, within the scope of dual learning, alternating training with school equivalency, but also training for unemployed and active employed adults, within the scope of the Algarve Training," he added.

It was the delivery of certificates for various training actions and the signing of new contracts with future trainees that brought Félix Esménio and the Secretary of State for Employment Pedro Roque to the Algarve yesterday. Among the diplomas awarded were those of the workers of Frusoal, the county's largest private employer and which was «the first company to join» the employment promotion program Algarve Training launched in 2012 by the Government.

«At the new pole, we are going to have training in the areas of electricity, electronics, industrial maintenance and hotel management. We will also have training in the area of multimedia and the economy of the sea. We are going to work on training workers for some investment projects that are planned for here. We are also going to touch on the area of community and geriatric support services, in support of older people», revealed the IEFP deputy.

The investment made by the IEFP aims to improve conditions for both trainees and teachers, since «the VRSA chamber has identified a space that has much more quality than the current pole that exists».

In addition to this pre-defined training programme, Félix Esménio opens the door to other types of actions, namely “anything that is identified as an important need and in which there are good prospects for employment”.

During the session, the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António was praised by Pedro Roque, who considered that it has been an «excellent example in the creation of active employment measures and in the development of inclusive policies», under which some were recently integrated. of 20 people with disabilities.

These 20 employees of the municipality were among those who received their training certificates yesterday.
