The Algarve Regional Tourism Authority (ERTA) will start «Rediscovering the Secrets of the Algarve» from April 18th and the first crossing point will be Alcoutim.

This initiative, which aims to show tour operators and the specialized international press some of the region's natural treasures, will be broadcast in all Algarve municipalities by the end of the year.

The first trip, or “Fam Trip”, «will take around 20 participants to spy on the municipality until there are no secrets left about it», revealed Turismo do Algarve in a press release. The bet on Nature Tourism, with this and other actions, had already been featured on the Lisbon Tourism Exchange, last month.

«The program is a surprise for those who will be part of the group for the first visit carried out under this Algarve Tourism project. This means that even the proposed activities will be a mystery that needs to be unraveled by the participants, an idea that shares the concept of the initiative: providing different emotions through tours around the other Algarve, the less known and less spoken of by tourists», revealed ERTA.

«We want journalists and trade in the region to see the Algarve from another angle, because they help 'sell' the destination through the way they live it and how they write about it. That's why we developed this project that will reveal less explored products and points of interest, but with potential to attract tourists», explained the president of Algarve Tourism Desidério Silva.

After Alcoutim, the initiative moves on to Albufeira, a municipality that is already known to host a «Fam Trip» in May. The remaining municipalities follow, on a date yet to be announced. This first visit is organized in partnership with the Municipality of Alcoutim and the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.
