Marking International Jazz Day, Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório, in Silves, will host a concert by the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve on April 27, at 21 pm. The show has the support of the Municipality of Silves.

This concert is a tribute that the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve, directed by Hugo Alves, pays to this musical style within the scope of this ephemeris proclaimed by UNESCO on April 30, 2012, at the proposal of the musician and composer Herbie Hancock (goodwill ambassador of said organization).

The main objective of the International Jazz Day is to remember the importance of this musical genre that, through its message, raised a passionate voice against all forms of oppression, speaking the language of freedom, which is understood by all cultures, being understood by UNESCO as the “musical expression that can break down barriers and symbolize peace and unity”.

Tickets will be on sale at Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório one hour before the start of the show and cost 6 euros. For children under 12, admission is free.
