The traveling exhibition of the illustrations from the book «Histórias da Ajudaris» 2012 will be on display at the Municipal Library of Albufeira from today, Monday to Friday, April 19th.

The exhibition shows the dozens of illustrations that make up the fourth edition of the book by Ajudaris, a Private Institution of Social Solidarity, based in Porto, which fights against hunger, poverty and social exclusion. A publication with the dual purpose of encouraging reading and writing and helping those who need it most.

«“Histórias da Ajudaris” is a pioneering and innovative initiative to encourage reading and writing, carried out with children from 3 to 12 years old. The project intends to create a collection of children's books with stories created by children and illustrated by artists who are associated with the cause», explained the City Council of Albufeira.

«In addition to encouraging reading and writing in a natural and spontaneous way, the project also aims to awaken children to art and the importance of solidarity, since the funds raised from the sale of the book revert to children and needy families», added the municipality.

In this Algarve municipality, the exhibition is being organized by the Schools Group of Ferreiras – School Library EB 2,3 Professora Diamantina Negrão, with the support of the Municipality.

The exhibition is a parallel initiative to the edition of the book that bears the same name and can be visited from 14 pm to 19:15 pm today and from Tuesday to Friday, between 9:30 am and 19:15 pm.
