The Board of Directors of the Centro Hospitalar do Barlavento Algarvio decided today, at the end of the morning, to suspend payment in the car parks of the Portimão unit, he told the Sul Informação a hospital source.

The suspension is intended, according to the same source, to "rethink" what to do with accesses to paid parking, after this morning, and for the second day in a row, as yesterday came into force to have returned causing queues for kilometers at the entrance to Portimão, even causing serious problems with access for ambulances and emergency vehicles.

The Board of Directors will also "rethink" the situation of the hospital's employees, for whom the available parking spaces do not reach, said that source.

In a press release sent to the newsrooms on Wednesday afternoon, those responsible for the CHBA revealed that they met “as a matter of urgency with the Administration of the concessionary company and the various complications were analyzed, including delays in accessing parking spaces by the users and workers, and decided, immediately and on a provisional basis, to suspend the payment process'.

«The Board of Directors of CHBA, EPE also recalls that these disturbances, caused by the influx to the Portimão Unit, are also the result of a problem, which the Institution has been facing since its implementation at the Poço Seco site: a single access to the institution, a matter that is currently being debated with the local authority and responsible entities with a view to its resolution», the document reads.

"The management team demonstrates its concern for the events of the past 8th and 9th of April and regrets the inconvenience and delays generated, committing to join efforts in order to reconcile all the interests in question", added the Board of Directors of CHBA .
