The exhibition of the documentary “Women are Heroes”, by photographer JR, in the small auditorium of TEMPO – Municipal Theater of Portimão, on March 8, at 15 pm, is the way chosen by the Parish Council of Portimão to mark the International Day of Woman.

Composed of footage and interviews, it is a moving documentary that tells the stories of women who live in the most varied places, where life becomes a daily struggle. From the slums of Rio de Janeiro to the arid landscapes of Kenya, through the overcrowded streets of India and Cambodia, photographer JR has filmed heroic faces of women with a suffering past, for whom tears and laughter are mixed, and courage and hope are a constant form of survival.

The same film will be screened again at night, at 21 pm, in the same space, but there as part of the cycle «Cinema à 30ªs», promoted by TEMPO and with paid admission (6 euros).

In the case of the exhibition at 15:00 pm, admission is free (only prior registration is required at the Parish Council), followed by a meeting, in which a chocolate fondue will be offered, in collaboration with the Hotel and Tourism School of Portimão.

With this initiative, it is intended to provide approximately 170 women, of all ages, with an enjoyable and fun afternoon on a day that aims to highlight and value the importance of the role of women in our society.

Interested parties must register with the Parish Council of Portimão.
