By order of the Secretary of State for Budget, a new section of the ADSE Medical Board was created in Faro. It is a question of following up on a claim expressed by the City Council and which is also part of the demands of workers in public functions in the Algarve who were forced to make painful trips to Évora.

In November 2009, the municipality took steps to study the feasibility of installing a section of the ADSE Medical Board in Faro.

Until now, the beneficiaries of this social protection were obliged to travel around 250 kilometers whenever there is a need to present themselves for the verification of natural diseases or for the verification of accidents and occupational diseases, Évora, being the only section to the south and covering the districts of Beja, Évora, Portalegre and Faro.

«The efforts of the City Council continued throughout this time and it is with satisfaction that we are now witnessing the materialization of this claim, which is an asset for all», stresses the municipality in a press release.

Faro "It sees its capital strengthened" and all those who have ADSE as a social protection system no longer have to travel to Évora, where there is no direct public transport.

"The general worsening of the financial conditions of families also required a complementary effort in the households and this solution also brought some justice and dignity to a service that is essential", says the municipality of Faro.

The headquarters of this new section of the ADSE Medical Board will be in the city of Faro, in premises to be contracted by ADSE for this purpose and their entry into operation will be determined by order of the Director General of ADSE.
