The Municipal Councils of Vila Real de Santo António and Loulé are nominated in the category of Best Municipality for Tourism in the Publituris Portugal Trade Awards 2013, which will be delivered on February 27, at 11 am, on the opening day of the Tourism Exchange of Lisbon (BTL), the biggest national event dedicated to tourism.

The two Algarve Town Councils are named alongside the local authorities of Lisbon, Cascais, Funchal and Guimarães in this distinction that rewards the best that is done in tourism in Portugal.

For the president of the VRSA local authority, Luís Gomes, this distinction “is the result of the municipality's tourism promotion work, developed for several years in parallel with the sector's entrepreneurs and, more recently, with its Spanish counterparts”.

«To this proximity, we can add the events policy developed in recent years, as well as the commitment to the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex, equipment that has contributed to the hotel occupancy records registered throughout 2012 and already in 2013 », continues Luís Gomes.

The Publituris Portugal Trade Awards had their first edition in 2010, on the Lisbon Tourism Exchange, and mark the first of the international tourism fair.

There are 16 categories in competition, involving close to a hundred companies and institutions nominated. The initiative aims to distinguish the most technical areas of tourism, with the Publituris newsroom being responsible for appointing companies in each category.

For this purpose, criteria such as: communication and marketing policies, capacity for innovation, generated business, actions developed with the trade or the perceived quality of service are taken into account.

This assessment will take into account the work carried out by each of those involved during the previous year. The winners, in addition to the award, will be awarded a seal certifying the excellence of the company or institution.

The Portugal Trade Awards are held in partnership with BTL and are sponsored by Banco Espírito Santo, Travelport and Turismo de Portugal.
