Câmara de Loulé launched a tool that aims to help institutions that belong to its social network to do a better and more complete job. The Social Portal, presented this Friday during the celebrations of the Day of the City of Loulé, will allow the different partners of the network to know all the valences, services and information of their counterparts.

«The Portal was born from the need felt by the social action department of the Loulé Council to provide the social network with a tool for sharing knowledge and interaction», revealed councilwoman Maria Teresa Menalha during the presentation of the Portal.

In a municipality with the physical dimension and population of Loulé, there are dozens of Private Institutions of Social Solidarity, on the coast, in the Barrocal and in the mountains. In many cases, “there is an overlap of services and services” and the absence of others that would be important to the population.

Basically, it is about informing those who make up the network about "which resources exist and how they can interact with each other". "The members of the network had already been expressing their desire to get to know the other partners," added Maria Teresa Menalha.

On Friday, an already functional version of the portal was presented, but which will still be improved. Something that will happen until the 19th of February, when there is a meeting of the social network partners.

The local authority will take the opportunity to provide the institutions with the username and password to access the Portal. From there, it is expected that the entities update their data and report on their activities, so that all partners are aware.

In a first phase, the portal will only be open to network partners and not to the general public, revealed Maria Teresa Menalha. But, he guaranteed, the "idea is that, in the future, it can be open to the entire population."

“The most important thing here is to emphasize that we are working to put technologies at the service of the community. In recent years we have made a large investment in material and in the training of our technicians», considered, for his part, the mayor of Loulé Seruca Emídio.

Social action was highlighted in the celebrations of 25 years of Loulé as a city

On the sidelines of the session, Seruca Emídio recalled, in a conversation with Sul Informação, that of the four initiatives that the Chamber chose to mark the 25th anniversary of Loulé's rise, two had a strong social character.

In addition to the Portal, the autarchy inaugurated the Municipal House of Temporary Shelter, in the Municipal District. The other initiatives included in the commemorations program were the inauguration of the restored Rua Dr. José Guerreiro, which connects the Bus Terminal to the Salir roundabout and the signing of a protocol with the University of Algarve.

“I believe that social issues are a central concern for all municipalities today. We are all very attentive», he assured.

At a time of crisis and taking into account that the Silver Wedding of the city was celebrated, «nothing better than, without major financial investments, we chose to select two projects that have to do with the best functioning of the means at our disposal», to help others said.

In the case of the Abrigo house, it is a space that will welcome residents who find themselves deprived of their housing, namely in the wake of disasters.

“Just last night there was a fire in Quarteira and people were left homeless. Also during the floods there were similar situations. Instead of moving them to pavilions or other situations, they have a house there with everything they need,” he said.
