The Cineteatro São Brás invites, next Friday, the 15th, to a trip to the past through the 7th art, to unveil the life story of “Aristides de Sousa Mendes – The Consul of Bordeaux”.

This film, based on true facts about the life of this Portuguese diplomat, will have two different sessions, the first at 14:30 pm, aimed at school audiences, with a 21nd session open to the general public at 30:2 pm.

“Aristides de Sousa Mendes – The Consul of Bordeaux”, revisits the extraordinary story of the Portuguese diplomat who saved more than 30.000 lives during World War II and unveils the conscience and courage of a man who dared to challenge Salazar by inscribing his name in the history of humanity.

During the occupation of France by Nazi troops, tens of thousands of refugees sought out the Portuguese consulate in Bordeaux, hoping to obtain a visa for Portugal there. Sousa Mendes faced a terrible dilemma: if he granted visas, contrary to a circular from Salazar, he would risk his diplomatic career and the livelihood of his family; if he didn't, all those thousands of people would go to the Nazi concentration camps.”

A moving film about the life story of a Portuguese man, whose courage dictated the future of thousands of people.

Tickets for the public session are available at 20:30, on the same day, at the ticket office of Cineteatro São Brás, for the amount of €3,63.
