“Juvenile Delinquency – Integration into Society” is the theme of the fourth episode of the second series of the Teia d'Ideias debate cycle, which will take place this Wednesday, January 9, at 21 pm, in a gathering promoted by Associação Teia D 'Impulses scheduled for the Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, in Portimão.

An excerpt from an article by Pedro Moura Ferreira serves as a theme for the debate: “Delinquency is seen as a lack of control, a dismissal by the adult world of its responsibilities towards the younger generation. The lack of follow-up and supervision throughout child and youth development justifies the appearance of behaviors that are very far from those that, in our eyes, express the ideal concept of childhood and youth. The apparent failure of conventional socialization structures and the emergence of deviant behavior justify the intervention of other institutions of social control in the educational process of adolescents and young people.”

With this starting point, Teia D'Impulsos challenges the participants of the gathering to reflect on the paths to be taken in order to prevent its occurrence, as well as the most effective strategies to ensure the adequate socialization of delinquency cases.

To discuss the topic, will be present Isa Gomes (General Directorate for Social Reintegration of the Algarve), Ana Vicente (Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth of Portimão), Luís Barata (professor of alternative curricula), Sílvia Vicente (Lar Bom Samaritano) and Sara Galis (Association of Parents and Guardians of the Poeta António Aleixo Secondary School), with the presence of a representative of the Public Security Police (Safe School Programme), while Teia D'Impulsos will be represented by Francisca Neves, in a panel moderated by Nuno Silva.

The debate, promoted by Teia D'Impulsos - social, cultural and sports association, in partnership with the Municipality of Portimão and Rádio Costa D'Oiro, has the support of the Essência & Bom Gosto Restaurant and Delta in the coffee-break and it is open to all interested parties, being recorded in audio format for later transmission in deferred by Rádio Costa D'Oiro, through the program “Impulso”.

In between the get-togethers, those interested may purchase the book “Teia D'Ideias: Espaço de Cidadania”, which brings together the main conclusions of the first series of this cycle of debates.

The fifth episode of the second edition of Teia d'Ideias is scheduled for February 13, under the theme “Removed Buildings of Portimão – What to do?”.
