After five years of economic crisis and the return of recession in 2012, unemployment is reaching peaks that have not been registered for almost twenty years in the European Union, according to the 2012 edition of the report «Evolution of employment and the social situation in Europe ».

The same report adds that household incomes have decreased and the risk of poverty or exclusion is increasing, particularly in southern and eastern European Member States.
