The Parises Social Center, in São Brás de Alportel, will be inaugurated on Sunday, Epiphany, at 15 pm, less than a year after the work was commissioned by the local authority.
This center, designed to support the senior population of this area of Serra do Caldeirão, rresulted from the restoration of the former local Primary School building. To guarantee its functioning, a strong institutional partnership was established with the Serra do Caldeirão Solidarity Institution (ISSC).
Integrated in the Social Development Plan and considered a priority by the Local Council of Local Action of São Brás de Alportel, this work undertook expansion and adaptation works in the old primary school building, creating a new space with various accessibility solutions, fully adapted to its new mission to promote the health and well-being of the elderly in the mountainous area of the municipality of São Brás de Alportel.
The center will serve as a complement to the home support service provided by the SSC) in the continuity of work in terms of food, personal hygiene and housing and as a space for intergenerational interaction, with the promotion of various activities aimed at the elderly population of that community.
Activities that will be jointly promoted by the various partners of this project, namely the City Council of São Brás de Alportel, the ISSC and the Local Contract for Social Development, LARA Plan – Social Intervention after the fire in São Brás de Alportel, created following the fire that devastated this and other neighboring locations last summer.
The work cost close to 67 euros and was financed at 75 percent by community funds under PRODER's Subprogram 3 “Invigorating rural areas – providing basic services for the rural population”.
The inauguration of the center is an initiative included in the Festa dos Reis that the municipality of São Paulo will promote and includes, in addition to the official ceremony, a period of musical entertainment.
