The sculptor Aníbal Ruivo presents his art in an exhibition in the foyer of the Municipal Auditorium of Olhão from January 12th. The exhibition will run until February 28 and can be visited during the opening hours of the Auditorium.
A precocious aptitude, an unusual and diversified capacity for work, an art school built by itself and for itself, although attentive to external artistic phenomena, this is how the work of Aníbal Ruivo, who in Olhão shows sculpture in iron, is presented. , wood, stone or plaster.
Master of a refined design, with an ability to work with more realistic or more abstract models, Ruivo distanced himself from the swarm, certainly creative, but petty and self-serving, of currents, influences and interests and powers that the world of arts and of its actors get involved.
He did not deify his talent, always separating his pleasures, friendships and loves from his creative capacity and determination. His sculptures of great beauty can be seen in Olhão from January 12th.
The painter and sculptor, born in São Brás de Alportel, has a degree in Painting at the Lisbon School of Fine Arts. Some of the works are published in the book that reproduces his professional career from 1945 to 2009: “Aníbal Ruivo – Uma Vida de Arte”, published in Brussels by the publisher Orfeu.
