The City Council of São Brás de Alportel and the José Belchior Viegas Schools Group signed, on November 16, the Cooperation Protocol with the EPIS Association – Entrepreneurs for Social Inclusion, joining the Network of training mediators for the school success.

The EPIS Association was created in 2006 with the aim of bringing together entrepreneurs who could contribute to greater social inclusion, focusing their action in the area of education.

In São Brás de Alportel, 70 students were identified who fit the target profile of the EPIS, out of 600 belonging to the José Belchior Viegas Group.

«This assessment takes into account 3 different types of students: those who do not want to study and are not interested in school, having a past and a present whose family and social surroundings are inadequate; those who want to study but are unable to obtain positive results and even those who, although they feel good in the school environment, do not want to participate in curricular activities», revealed the City Council of São Brás de Alportel in a statement.

This project lasts for 3 academic years starting in 2012/2013 and ending in the 2014/2015 academic year.

The Network of Training Mediators for School Success is dedicated to students attending the 3rd cycle of basic education.

Its approach includes a methodology with two fundamental parts: a system for signaling young people with risk factors in terms of school success, organized into 4 groups - student - family - school and territory and a portfolio of specific training methods for each one of these categories, which enable the construction of individual monitoring plans in close proximity and continuity.

«The integration in this project arises from the need to continue to find innovative answers to the constant challenges of education for such diverse audiences, giving priority to 3 areas of intervention, the promotion of school success, the prevention of classroom abandonment and indiscipline and the promotion of health education is ongoing”, added the municipality.
