The ParaSport association promotes the “Non-Stop Basketball Solidarity” initiative, in which its wheelchair basketball team will play uninterruptedly, between 10:00 and 24:00 on December 22nd and 23rd, at the Aqua Portimão Shopping Centre, which it supports this awareness-raising action together with the Municipality of Portimão.

ParaSport was created in 2004 to promote sport for people with physical disabilities in the Algarve, and is currently going through a serious financial crisis, so this double marathon aims to raise funds that allow its team to continue participating in the National Championship of the sport. , where so far has achieved a victory in three rounds.

Comprised of 12 players aged between 16 and 55 years, with spinal cord injuries or amputations, in the first phase of the South Zone of the Championship, ParaSport competes with teams from Oeiras, Sintra, Alcoitão and Lisbon, having in four seasons of competition obtained two passages to the playoffs of Nacional, in addition to a semi-final in the Cup of Portugal.

A non-profit association, ParaSport also regularly organizes events to promote the Algarve region as an accessible tourist and sporting destination.

In this sporting season, ParaSport's wheelchair basketball team has the support of the Municipality of Portimão, training every Tuesday and Thursday, starting at 20:30 pm, at the Mexilhoeira Grande Sports Complex pavilion.
