Louletano swimmers become national champions in the 2nd Division

Nathan Keith Theodoris, with three victories in the 100m backstroke, 200m freestyle and 200m backstroke, Thomas James Litten, who won the 200m styles and 200m breaststroke events, and Carolina Sofia Lopes, in the 100m backstroke, were the three Algarve swimmers who won national champions in these competitions in the 2nd Swimming Division National Championship, played on the 21st and 22nd, in Santo António dos Cavaleiros.

With these results, to which were added other good performances of the other swimmers in Loulé, the formation of the Louletano/Loulé County reached the 5th place by teams, in males (1st place was for Colégio Vasco da Gama), and 7th place, in females (1st place for Gespaços). The Louléans thus remained in the 2nd National Swimming Division.

The same goal was achieved by the Swimming Club of Olhão, which finished the 2nd Division National Championship in 10th place, remaining in this division.

Featured in the Olhão Swimming Club, was João Duarte Santos, who was 3rd in the 200m freestyle event (won by Nathan Thoedoris, from Louletano), the same position achieved by the swimmer from Olhano in the 200m moth.

In addition to the results already mentioned, the athletes from Louletano were also in good shape in other competitions. Thus, the relay team formed by Carolina Sofia Lopes, Cátia Raquel Martinheira, Ines Pugsley Ferreira and Rute Rocha Inês was 2nd in the 4 x 100m Estilos event, Carolina Lopes was also 2nd in 50m freestyle, the same position reached by Thomas James Litten in 400m styles.

In the 200m moth, Cátia Martinheira was ranked 3rd, the same position achieved by Rute Inês, in the 200m backstroke, and by the Loulé team in the 4 x 100m Estilos, with swimmers Nathan Keith Theodoris, Ricardo Sousa Filipe, Thomas James Litten and Tiago Mestre Faisca .

These championships were held at the Municipal Swimming Pool of Santo António dos Cavaleiros, in a competition organized by the Portuguese Swimming Federation and the Lisbon Swimming Association, with the support of the Municipalities of Loures and Lisbon.

The 1st Division is disputed by eight clubs, in men and women, with the women's national title in the hands of FC Porto for four consecutive seasons and the men's title was conquered for the first time by Sporting last season. The last two classified as male and female are relegated to the 2nd Division.

At the secondary level, there are 16 teams competing in each sector and the first two classified ascend to the 1st Division next season and the last four descend to the 3rd Division.
