A Portuguese Air Force helicopter has participated since this morning in the search for a sport fisherman who was taken by a wave in Pontal da Carrapateira, around 6:00 am.
In the searches, four elements of the Maritime Police and Firefighters of Aljezur also participate.
According to a source from the Maritime Police, the man, whose identity is still unknown, was dragged by a wave when he was fishing by line on top of the cliff. The accident was witnessed by another sport fisherman, who immediately raised the alarm.
That area of the west coast has been under yellow weather warning for days, due to the west waves with 4 to 5 meters.
Every year, sport fishermen die in similar accidents in different parts of the Costa Vicentina.
