The Academic Association exists to serve the students of the University of Algarve and support for pedagogy should be one of its main roles. This is the conviction of Filipa Braz da Silva who, from January 7, will be the president of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve (AAUAlg).

The university student knows that she will have a complicated task ahead of her, in her term to come, due to the association's complicated financial situation.

But it is willing to continue the work of financial restructuring initiated by the current management, to which it belongs and confident that it will be able to help solve it.

For that, it assumes that there will be restraint in the budgets of the events and that only projects “that cannot harm the association” will be advanced. The Academic Week, for example, will be based on the same model as in 2012 and will have a budget “equal or less” than the main university party this year.

The future president of AAUAlg was the guest of this week's radio program Impressões, jointly promoted by Sul Informação and by Rádio Universitária do Algarve RUA FM. The program originally aired on Wednesday and can be heard again in its entirety on Saturday at 12 noon on 102.7 FM and on www.street.pt.

The plans for the mandate, the fact of going down in history as the first woman at the head of the General Directorate of AAUAlg and the approach to controversies in relation to members of its team were some of the subjects that were addressed in this conversation.
