The Chamber of Lagos approved a Vote of Congratulation to EB 2,3 School of Naus and to the Gil Eanes de Lagos Schools Group, for winning the 2012 edition of the Montepio School Award, in the amount of 25.000 euros.
In the document, the council highlights the fact that the school was selected from among the schools that showed a positive evolution in the results of national exams for the 9th year of schooling, in the last four years.
For this reason, it was invited to present a project that would contribute to the improvement of its educational model, focusing on the areas of mathematics, Portuguese language, history, science, citizenship or the environment.
The project presented in this context, entitled "De Sol a Solo - Environmental Education at School" is based on two aspects that aim, on the one hand, to enhance the issue of preservation/recovery of traditions in terms of sustainable agriculture and, on the other hand , reveal paths that show possibilities for monetizing the predominant natural resources in the region, namely with regard to the use of natural energy sources.
In the approved vote, it can also be read that the municipality hopes that the goal of the Gil Eanes de Lagos Schools Grouping, to be able to develop this project, contributing significantly to the improvement of learning conditions, will be fulfilled. and for the promotion of good practices in the school community, and “that it constitutes an example and encouragement to all other local social, institutional and economic agents”.
