This Christmas, the Castro Marim City Council marked the entry into operation of the Bibliomóvel with the municipality's students, to whom it offered the stories written by the authors Nuno Caravela and Manuel António Pina, in a very special trip to the world of books, through the “ library with wheels”.

The initiative had as its starting point Nuno Caravela's narrative, “The New Sledge of Father Christmas”, which recounts his concerns, at the North Pole, when he found that his sled was so old that he could no longer travel to deliver the gifts to the boys on Christmas Eve.

Touched by the magic of Christmas and by the values of friendship and solidarity, which so well characterize the Christmas season, the pre-school children in the municipality helped to build a new sled.

With a contagious smile from Lapland, each of the boys was proud to have helped Santa Claus with the task of distributing the gifts, with the construction of the new sleigh.

Then, with a look of astonishment, they visited the Bibliomóvel, which they named the “library with wheels”, inside which they leafed through books, discovered CDs, Dvds and received some bags with City Hall gifts, including Nuno's book Caravel “The New Sleigh of Father Christmas”.

The City Hall Christmas party continued for the more than two hundred children from the 1st Cycle schools, now that Santa Claus had no excuse for being late on Christmas Day and, as Manuel António Pina wrote so beautifully, at book “The Wooden Horse of the Child Jesus and other Christmas tales”, “When he heard that the Child Jesus had been born, Father Christmas was delighted. He dressed running, loaded the sleigh with presents and called the reindeer: "Dasher, Dancer, Dunder... Come quickly!"

However, Father Christmas of the students of the 1st cycle of schools in Castro Marim was distracted and left all the gifts inside the Bibliomóvel, awakening in all of them the pleasure of getting to know the mobile library and, at the same, discovering the Christmas gifts, including the magnificent book by Manuel António Pina.

It was with this interaction between the Municipal Library and the municipality's students that the Municipality wanted to celebrate Christmas, stressing that affection, love for others and the desire for peace in the world, as perennial values, must always be present in our lives.
