The land searches to find the fisherman dragged by a wave, yesterday, in Pontal da Carrapateira (Aljezur), were resumed this Monday, at 6:30 am.

This morning, the searches no longer have the help of the helicopter of the Portuguese Air Force, which, incidentally, had left the site in the middle of yesterday afternoon.

The victim is a 50-year-old male, of Ukrainian nationality, living in Lagos, who, around 6:00 am on Sunday, when the day had not yet dawned, was dragged by a wave in Pontal da Carrapateira, falling from a height of about six meters.

The commander of the Ports of Portimão and Lagos said that the searches are, for now, being carried out by land, involving four men from the Maritime Police and the Aljezur Firefighters.

Taking into account the state of the sea – with waves of five to six meters – the possibility of resuming searches also by sea is being considered. Yesterday, a Navy vessel and the Sagres lifeboat participated in the operations.
