The mayors of Silves and Lagoa will meet today, at 17 pm, in Lisbon, with the ministers of Internal Administration and Parliamentary Affairs to present the report on the survey of damage caused by the storm that left a trail of destruction on Friday in the region.

The meeting of mayors Rogério Pinto and José Inácio Eduardo with ministers Miguel Macedo and Miguel Relvas will take place at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, in Lisbon.

The meeting comes after the Minister of Internal Administration, visiting the places affected by the tornado, on Saturday, declined to say what amount of financial support will be provided by the Government to support the municipalities of Lagoa and Silves and their populations in recovery from damage.

The tornado that, on Friday, left a trail of destruction in those two municipalities, caused 13 injuries, three of them in serious condition, and 12 homeless.

More than a hundred houses, urban equipment, roofs, cars and motorhomes were damaged by the force of the wind.

In Silves, the storm caused considerable damage to the municipal swimming pools, which are unused, to the City Hall and Municipal Market building and also to the Silves Futebol Clube Stadium, whose wall and benches collapsed.

In Lagoa, the damage was mainly concentrated in the new area of ​​the city, where around 80 apartments were damaged, as well as cars, and there was also damage to houses and a tourist resort in the areas of Carvoeiro Clube, Bemveja, Canada and Torrinha.

The exact amount of damage in the two municipalities, which amounts to several million euros, was assessed on the ground by teams from both municipalities and will today be handed over to the Government.
