The Health minister reiterated "the decision to keep the INEM helicopter based in Beja" to the detriment of the Algarve in response to a question asked this week by the Parliamentary Group of the PCP, through its deputy elected by the Algarve Paulo Sá, during the hearing to member of the Government in the scope of the discussion in the specialty of the State Budget for 2013.

In a statement, the Parliamentary Group of the PCP revealed that Paulo Sá "raised a set of questions about health care in the Algarve region", namely about the construction of the Hospital Central do Algarve, the Government's intention to close the basic emergency services of Loulé and Lagos and the relocation of the INEM Helicopter.

Following the questions raised, say the communists, in addition to reinforcing the intention to keep the INEM helicopter in Beja, «the Minister replied in the negative or was silent: in the next financial year, the works of the Hospital Central do Algarve will not start, allegedly. due to financing difficulties and no commitment was made regarding the maintenance of basic emergency services in Loulé and Lagos or in other areas in the region».

«The PCP sees with growing concern the policy carried out by the current Government, which leads to the gradual destruction of the social functions of the State and, in particular, to the dismantling of the National Health Service, appealing to professionals in the sector and to all Algarveans who reject this policy, in defense of the right to health protection enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic», revealed the communists.
