Nativity scenes with pieces from around the world, from the first lady's private collection, will be on display at the Convento de Santo António starting tomorrow, in the exhibition «The Nativity Scene – Maria Cavaco Silva's Collection», which will open at 18:30 pm. The exhibition will be open until January 5th.

Built over the years, this collection brings together pieces from various sources, national and international, from countries such as Timor, Israel, France or African and Eastern European countries, to traditional centers for the production of Portuguese nativity scenes, such as Barcelos and Estremoz.

This is a joint initiative of the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic and the Municipality of Loulé, whose proceeds revert to Associação Existir. The exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 am to 18 pm, for the general public, and from Tuesday to Friday, from 10 am to 12 pm and from 14:30 pm to 16:30 pm, for schools.

To the cribs on display at the Convento de Santo António are added the traditional cribs from Loulé, which will be able to be seen in several locations in Loulé, during the festive season that is approaching.

In the Castle tower there is a crib such as we commonly know, with Mary, Saint Joseph and Baby Jesus. In the Pátio do Castelo, there is a recreation of a nativity scene in a medieval environment, with life-size figures.

These two cribs were designed and executed by the artist Francisco José and can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 17:30 pm and on Saturdays from 10 am to 14 pm.

In the Traditional Algarvian Cuisine at Alcaidaria do Castelo de Loulé, from December 8th to 5th, it is possible to visit the Exhibition of the Traditional Algarvian Crib. This is the usual crib with the Baby Jesus, the cornfields and oranges, which shows all the Algarve tradition. This crib is assembled every year by the Municipal Museum's techniques and the Menino Jesus on display is private property, kindly provided to be placed on the throne.

Also in Querença, at the Água Museological Pole, a Traditional Nativity Scene will be on display to the public, which symbolizes all the mountainous traditions of Christmas in the village. The Exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 12:30 pm and from 14 pm to 17:30 pm, from December 10th to January 4th.
