João Guerreiro Conceição is the new president of the Political Commission of the PSD/Quarteira, after winning the elections that took place on 10 November. The new direction will have Cláudio Lima as vice president and Filipe Palma as treasurer.
The winning list got 64 percent of the vote, against 34 percent for the list headed by the current vice president of the Parish Council Carlos José Catarino. The electoral act stood out for its strong participation, with the abstention rate remaining at just 30 percent.
The winning list is complete with vocals Alexandra Coelho, Carlos Alves Caetano, Gustavo Lopes Guerreiro, Hélio Espadinha, João Baptista, João Lopes, Paulo Viegas Martins and Pedro Alexandre Alves.
João Guerreiro da Conceição was born in Quarteira, vice-president of the CDR Quarteirense, President of the Quarteira and Vilamoura Business Association, and also a businessman in the restaurant sector.
After his victory, João Guerreiro Conceição spoke about the next municipal councils, which take on another dimension in Quarteira taking into account that the current president of the Parish Council José Coelho Mendes will not be able to re-apply.
"From today, we are going to work hard to, within our statutory duties, help the party to choose the best prepared to continue the cycle of electoral victories in Quarteira," reads a statement from the PSD/Quarteira.
He also added that the process, namely the choice of a candidate, will take place in harmony with the PSD Municipality of Loulé.
