Loulé will host two photography exhibitions, by Vasco Célio and João Henriques, united by the common theme of Carnival, linking Alte and Torres Vedras with images. The exhibitions will be open from November 3rd to December 31st, with the Convento Espírito Santo Art Gallery, in Loulé, to receive “Murcado da Balbúrdia”, by Vasco Célio and CECAL – Center for Experimentation and Artistic Creation of Loulé, in the Municipal Park, hosting «Trans-cidades», by João Henriques.

The mask, the individual and collective identity and the places are themes that are found in the photographs of both artists, which portray a party that is queen in both Portuguese municipalities. Both exhibitions are free to enter.

Vasco Célio was born in 1975 in Lubango. Lives and works in Loulé. He attended the Level 3 Course at Cenjor- Centro Protocolar de Formation Professional for Journalists, in Lisbon, and completed a Post-Graduate degree in Art and Cultural Programming at Instituto Superior Afonso III. He began his career as a freelancer with collaborations with the newspapers Público, Expresso, Diário Económico, the magazines Sábado and Visão, Agência Lusa and Getty Images. In parallel, he develops works of authorship, having participated in several artistic projects and individual and collective exhibitions.

João Henriques was born in Tomar, in 1967. He lives and works between Torres Vedras and Lisbon. Currently completes a Masters in Photography at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar. He has been exhibiting individually and collectively in various national institutions since 2007.
