Tavira will host the preparation stage of the national handball team in the senior men's division for the first games of the qualification phase for the European Championship – Denmark'2014, from tomorrow until the 30th of October. Aficionados of this sport will have many opportunities to see athletes showing what they know, in trainings open to the public.

The training sessions, which anyone can attend, take place at the Dr. Eduardo Mansinho and Luz de Tavira Pavilions. In the first sports venue, you will be able to see the selection in action on Friday, between 10 am and 12 pm, on Saturday and Sunday, between 11 am and 13 pm, on Monday, the 28th between 18 pm and 30:20 pm and on Tuesday, the 30th, from 29 am to 10 pm. At Luz de Tavira, there will be training on Friday and Tuesday 12th, from 29pm to 17pm.

The first game of group 1 of the qualifying phase for the European Denmark – 2014 will take place on November 1st, at 12:30 pm local time, against Spain, in Seville. This will be followed, on Sunday, November 4, by the confrontation with the Macedonian national team, in Espinho, at 17:00.

In addition to Portugal, Spain and Macedonia, group 1 of the qualifying phase also includes Switzerland, with whom Portugal has the first match scheduled, away from home, on 3 or 4 April 2013.

 

The 18 summoned by Rolando Freitas are:

Goalkeepers: Hugo Figueira (Sporting) and Hugo Laurentino (FC Porto).

2nd line: Pedro Solha and Bruno Moreira (Sporting), Dário Andrade, David Tavares and José Costa (Benfica) and Ricardo Moreira (FC Porto).

1st row: Gilberto Duarte, Wilson Davyes, João Ferraz and Pedro Spinola (FC Porto), Fábio Magalhães (Sporting), Carlos Carneiro, Tiago Pereira, Cláudio Pedroso and Álvaro Rodrigues (Benfica) and Bosko Bjelanovic (Águas Santas).
