The “Design e Ofícios” project, born in São Brás de Alportel, is present at the “Lisboa Design Show”, which lasts until next Sunday, at the FIL-Feira Internacional de Lisboa, in Parque das Nações.

The Chamber of São Brás wanted to show in what is considered «the greatest national design event» the innovation of traditional products through the design achieved in the project it promoted, at the Southern Designers Association.

The «Design and Crafts» challenges «artisans and designers to cross the bridge between tradition and innovation». «The result is very original, functional works and with extraordinary potential that combine the creativity of design with the ancestral knowledge of crafts», revealed the municipality of Sambras, in a statement.

«The project started in 2011 and has already been held in two editions. In each edition, the realization of an artistic residency, for an entire weekend, in a workshop, is the most important moment, as it is at this time that the creative project becomes reality, in a partnership between designer and artisan, which results in hours of interaction, enrichment and mutual growth, difficult to describe», he added.

In Lisbon, the Algarve project will have its moment in the limelight next Friday, October 12th, at 15 pm, with the presentation of the conference «Tradition and Innovation in the Algarve Mountains», taking place in the Businesss Conference space.

An initiative that aims to make the project known and will feature interventions by the representative of the Southern Designers Association Bruno Boto Cruz and the mayor of São Brás, as well as the testimony of artisan Sónia Mendes, who participated in the two editions of this project. project. São Brás will also be represented by its tasty traditional delicacies, in a cocktail that will follow this conference.
