Next Saturday, October 13, nature lovers will have the opportunity to participate in a walking tour along the Ria de Alvor, promoted by the Portimão City Council as part of the European Bird Watching Weekend.

The meeting point is set for the Quinta da Rocha car park, from 09:30 am, from where the participants, a maximum of 40 people, will set out to discover an area of ​​high ecological and natural interest, taking the opportunity to observe some birds who choose this valuable ecosystem as their habitat.

Among many other species, you can see water birds such as the red leg, the plover-collared-interrupted, the oystercatcher, hawthorn and curlew. The osprey or the marrow eagle may also surprise participants with their appearance.

For this walk, which lasts about two and a half hours, it is advisable to wear comfortable clothes and shoes, sun protection, binoculars and water.

Outside the tour, interested parties may participate in a bird ringing session, which will take place from 07:30 am at the headquarters of A Rocha – Christian Association for the Study and Defense of the Environment, located at Cruzinha – Quinta da Rocha.
